Visiting with the family

Weekend before last my son came to visit. We ended up going to the underground tour here in Seattle. It was interesting but I like the one in Portland better.

Here is a picture of my son and I, downtown Seattle waiting to go on the tour. Below is a picture of inside the underground. The toilet is an example of how residents of Seattle had to put their toilets up high so has not to get back splash from the sewer. Yuck

This weekend I went to visit him in Portland. My brother's 50th birthday was this month and his daughters gave him a surprise party this last weekend. He was really surprised to see his big sis walk in.

I stayed with my son and his girlfriend. While I was there I picked up his kids from a previous relationship. Autumn is 5 and Cameron is 3, and both are full of energy. It was a rainy weekend there in Portland. At my brother's party the kids got bored, no other kids there age was there yet, and wanted to play on the swing set in the rain. Which is all good and well except for their clothes were at my son's house where they were to be spending the night. So he finally took them back to his and his girlfriends place. Of course shortly after that the other kids showed up at the party which is the way it works.

Sunday morning I woke up with two little ones standing over me saying, "grandma it's morning!" They ate and then were running circles around the apartment. so my son and I took them to the park. We had lots of fun there.

That afternoon I returned them to their mother. Whew, I was really tired to say the least. You've got to be young to raise kids, you've got the energy then!

My son and his girlfriend treated me really nicely and cooked some really tasty meals. I also ate more popcorn than I had in a while because the little ones were popcorn addicts, they even wanted it for breakfast!

I enjoyed my stay but was happy to get home to my kitty and girlfriend. I guess the kitty was moody while I was gone and gave my gf the cold shoulder. She was pretty put out, the cat not the gf, when I left once more to go have dinner with my sweetie.

Dinner was good but I found myself dizzy and nauseous from being over tired and relunctly left earlier than planned to go home and get some sleep.

Even though it rained most of the weekend it was a good one. This Friday I make another jaunt to Portland as my sister has planned a girls night out for me, my sisters, sisters in law and cousin to see the show Menopause. This time however I am just spending the night and will be home Saturday afternoon.
