Sundance, beach trip and long lost sons

I spent the last week of June and the first week of July at Sundance. I love how it renews my spiritual world. Here is a pic of the inside of my tent and the camp site. It is pretty much in the middle of a prairie in the desert. The temperature each day was in the 100's. Someones thermometer in the shade read 109!!!!!! There were also some rockin thunder and lightning storms.

This weekend I went to visit my mom in Chinook. My son Jere and his family met me there. My mom was glad to see us. I had forgotten that my mom's beach house has bats. They don't bother me but the thought of bats whooshing around while we slept did bother my son's gfriend. Me, I just told em they should go out and eat bugs outside then went to sleep.

The next day my mom took us to breakfast. It was cloudy but we decided to go out and sight see after breakfast. So first we went to Fort Columbia.

This is my son doing an imitation of Kilroy at Fort Columbia.

My son and his girlfriend . In the background are the homes of the officers who used to live at the fort.

Me, taken by my son's girlfriend's daughter. She is yelling, you're fierce! you're a tiger! feel the fierceness! be the tiger! lol.

This is one of the old guns at the fort. We went into the battery which consisted of all these rooms in a concrete bunker type of building. Several rooms were pitch black and only had small windows. My son and I made our way through the darkness and made faces out the little window and his gfriend took the picture.

After the visit to the fort my son really wanted to see the new batman movie, Dark Knight. So we dropped the dog off at my mom's and went to the movie. Wow it was a really dark and violent movie. However I have to say my favorite scene had to do with a semi.

When we got out of the movie the sun was shining. So we went to the beach. Here is a picture of my toes in the sand and surf.

It was really sunny but since it was the NW coast it was also very blustery and cold.

I got some great shot of the ocean too! The sun was starting to set.

After playing in the surf and sand we finally got cold enough to think about heading home. As we drove down the main drag of Long Beach, my son said, "Hey, that's Jon!" I said, "Jon who?", my son said, "Jon my brother!". We pulled over an sure enough there was my youngest son having sitting on a bench having a cigarette. I haven't seen Jon for years. I had lost contact with him after he graduated from Job Corp. I just couldn't stop hugging him.

After talking to him we found out he has been living about 10 miles down the road from his grandmother but couldn't remember where she lived. We had a nice talk and got his info and went on, as he had to go back to work.

When we got back my sister Bam, showed up. It was beginning to be a family reunion. Here is a pic of me, my sis and mom. (We think we all have the same hair cut. LOL)

The next morning my youngest son called and said he wanted to come and see his grandma and auntie. So my son and I picked him and his fiance up. It was so awesome. I just couldn't stop hugging him. Here is a pic of all of us.

All in all it was one crazy and wonderful weekend get away!
