wow I can't believe that tomorrow I turn 55. I sure don't feel that old. It was weird to realize when I turned fifty five years ago that I would be welcomed at the senior community center. It was freaky. Well I never really did much but donate to the auctions. Most of the stuff they did was really more for retired people, and I ain't one of em.
However a few months ago I thought I should check up on my retirement fund and it was then that I found out I could retire at 58! It kind of snuck up on me in a strange way. Really, I don't feel that old.
So tomorrow I will turn 55, I now qualify for those senior prices in the restaurant, but you see there is a catch, it sounds good until you realize that the Senior meal is smaller than a regular meal. So really you are still paying what it is worth, a smaller portion, and I didn't even need my reading glasses to figure that one out. Oh yeah and when I opened my mail this afternoon was that I now had to pay more for health insurance as I had moved up to a new "older" bracket sheeeeshhhh!

The only time this week I have felt like a senior is when I fell down the stairs of my new employees home. I had gone up to check on my new little one. Another little guy, almost 3 years old, was standing at the bottom of the stairs watching me. The little one up stairs was asleep so I turned around and went to step down the stair and not so gracefully did a flying flop on my behind side and slid willy nilly to the bottom. I was laying there trying to not react to the pain in my butt and other places when a little voice popped up, "Nana! I have never seen you do that before! you went bumpety bump down the stairs!" As I lay there stunned and in pain I replied, "yeah well I hope you never see me do that again Louie!" Never fear! I am alive and well, just know that if you see me on my birthday I will be doing the little old lady walk due to various bruises and scrapes from the fall but not because I am turning 55!

Earlier in June I turned 50. It went OK. Actually, blogging about aging has helped me to turn 50 without a lot of anxiety.
Thanks Rhea! I celebrated my birthday and cut off my hair. LOL I have had long hair since age 12, sometimes to my butt. But I just wanted to do something different. I will post my new pics when I get back from sundance.
What a way to start my two nickel birthday.(:
