I have been having pain in my jaw since June. It all started out after a great dinner of Buffalo steak. My back teeth started aching. But it didn't last too long. But on and off through june and july they have hurt. I thought maybe it was something lodged under the gums.
So the last week I went to the dentist. He did some checking, xray and some cleaning on the back tooth but really couldn't tell if the gum was the cause. He sent me home and said to see if the cleaning helped.
Yesterday I was still in pain and now the pain is pretty steady. So went to the dentist again. He said can't see what is wrong so you need to see an endodonist. I went yesterday late in the afternoon. Unfortunately for me, (and my checkbook), I have two root canals that are infected sitting next to each other. So I am on an antibiotic and pain meds until I can go back in for the surgery which will last at least two hours if all goes well.
CRAP!!!!!! I hate getting these kinds of things done. He asked me if I get overly anxious about this kind of dental work....well "duh" who wouldn't! So he has offered me the option of taking a pill, 30 minutes before starting the surgery. He said I would still be awake but wouldn' t really be "there" while they did the work. He said the 2 hour surgery would seem like 30 minutes.
Well I am all for that, however insurances don't pay for the happy pill. So I will pay the 35 bucks to make it through the procedure without undue stress.
ah well, so goes life......
