Hair today, Hair tomorrow....

Bad Hair Day

For the last few weeks I have been trying to decide what to do with my hair. I ain't no spring chicken and so my natural red hair has been slowly decreasing and being replaced with white hair. Last summer it not only started to get replaced with white hair but with black! I have never had black hair and this is such an interesting phenomena to me.

I know that hair loses the pigment dohickeys as you get older and that is why it turns white or gray but where the hell does the black figure into it? Anyway I had colored it last summer and had not done anything with it since then. So I had red ends, white and black roots.

Now some people like me with the red and others want me to let it go all white. I like dyeing it red as it is my natural color and it looks good. But the white started dyeing orange and then the ends would be red. So I was forced to go to a hairdresser to have it foiled in three different colors overlapping to make it look right. This is a really expensive hairdresser visit each time.

So here I am short of cash, thinking that I want to try something myself but being totally afraid that once more I would end up looking pretty wierd. But I figured the worst that could happen is that I would have to cut it short and start over.

So I went and got some color remover and tried to remove the tips end color. Sorta, kinda worked but not to my satisfaction. Then I went and found a beauty supply store in my neighborhood and picked up two packs of hair lightner and some conditioner for afterward.

It actually was cheaper than the regular over the counter stuff and it worked quickly and looks great. I had thought of dyeing it over with the red but I really like this strawberry blond look. the white is there and it blends in with the light reddish blonde. The black is gone except for a stubborn patch up front which never dyes any color I have tried. Thank goodness it is small and doesn't detract.

Tomorrow I will go get a trim and get rid of the dry split ends.

So here are some pics. Whatcha think?
