Strange weather we are having lately here in Seattle. It snowed last night but when I got up the roads were in pretty good condition so I drove the 9 miles to work. No problem.
At five tonight one of the Dads I work for arrived home and said, "I'll watch all the little ones, it is really snowing and you probably should start for home." I looked out and saw that indeed it was snowing. I weighed the options and thought I would try to go home but said I would return if I had a problem. You see all of Seattle tends to be hills. I live on a hill, so do the folks I nanny for. Hills can be hell during snow! So I set out and found to my surprise that the drive wasn't too bad, made it to the freeway, stil good. However once I took the off ramp to my area of town I realized that I had been pretty lucky so far. Ahead of me were hills and lots and lots of traffic.
This is the first time I had driven my little car in the snow. It took two hours to get home! Most of it was on my side of town. There were buses stuck along side the road, cars sliding into the curb and the road just kept getting more icy. My little car did well and we made it home without any sliding on our part. I definately let go a big sigh of relief once I was parked in front of my place. Not sure if I will get to work tomorrow, more bad weather due and freezing temps.
Here are pics of my front walk and stairs tonight.
